About Us

MD PAC exists to reshape and revitalize the Democratic Party.

We’re tired of losing. Tired of treating razor-thin majorities as the ceiling. Tired of falling short on delivering for the American people, and tired of a gerontocracy that refuses to make way for new leadership and new ideas.

Our organization supports the work required to actually change that. From research projects like Questionable and The Baseline Report to the ongoing effort of Majority Democrats, a group of elected officials working to grow the Democratic Party. We are building the foundation for a stronger, more competitive Democratic coalition so that we can compete everywhere and build durable Democratic majorities.

MD PAC provides the Democratic ecosystem with the resources, tools, and networks to grow the party, drive a new political realignment, and turn the page on this dark chapter of American politics.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a high-agency operator to help take MD PAC’s initiatives, and the Majority Democrats project specifically, to the next level by serving as a dedicated utility player across the organization’s policy work. The Policy Consultant will provide operational and scheduling support for the policy work, liaise with Majority Democrats members and their teams to help them tackle tough policy issues, draft internal and public policy messaging documents, and collaborate with Majority Democrats’ communications, digital, and events staff to provide the substance that will advance the organization’s mission. This individual will also handle a variety of high-impact special projects as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Member & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Serve as a policy liaison to Majority Democrats members, ensuring a high-touch, highly responsive experience that helps them tackle tough policy issues.

    • Serve as a contact for other key Majority Democrats stakeholders interested in substantive policy conversations.

    • Conduct research and prepare memos, briefing materials, and presentations for members.

  • Events & Communications

    • Provide the substantive support necessary to help Majority Democrats execute on its event and communications priorities, including but not limited to drafting internal and public policy messaging documents.

  • Operational Support

    • Help design and implement internal structures, workflows, and operating systems to support the policy operation’s growth.

    • Provide scheduling and operational support to the organization's policy leadership.

  • Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives

    • Own and execute time-sensitive and high-impact projects on behalf of senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • You are a Democrat.

  • You love winning.

  • You are a decent person with integrity.

  • You are not easily offended or bothered by every slight or misspoken word.

  • You dislike groupthink and following the herd. You have original opinions, insights, and a style that doesn’t prioritize conformity.

  • You have experience advising principals and/or public facing leaders on policy and communications.

  • You have exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex political or policy issues into compelling, accessible content.

  • You are able to quickly get up to speed on a new policy area and know how to fight the right experts and ask the right questions.

  • You know the basics of the federal policymaking process.

  • You follow the news and have both the judgement and ability to create or curate timely content in rapid response to current events.

  • You don’t let balls drop.

  • You thrive in a campaign-style or startup-style environment—owning your work, pivoting on the fly, and not needing direction on every detail.

Compensation Range: $8,000-10,000/month contract (not full-time employee with benefits). Contract through December 31, 2026 preferred with potential to turn into a full-time W2 employee.
